If you didn’t know what you were looking for you’d hardly noticed them. But they are there alright, albeit not too obtrusive. Every house has one on the façade at the doorway. Residential buildings and office edifices alike. Regardless if it’s a worn down non renovated building where the bullet holes from the WW II are still visible or a new not even fully completed ultra modern steel & glass complex, rest assure that the gadget won’t be missing. I have no idea but could it be that its existence is a legal obligation?
Usually it looks like something of a wall mounted candlestick, commonly one or two holed, the three or four holed objects are more unusual. These holes do also occur as a very discreet, not to say concealed, hollow in the wall. Or two. They are really difficult to detect.
The purpose and function of these all these circular round small wall cavities really don’t become evident until a public holiday is to be celebrated, an event that will fill them up.
With what, you may with increasing impatience wonder? Well…TBC in the next blog spot, tomorrow!
